IF YOU HAVE SECOND HAND CISCO 79XX THAT WON'T UNLOCK DON'T FREAK!
I specifically had a Cisco 7940 handed to me gratis. I figured, put it on the pbx and deploy to a bedroom. I go out to the Cisco site and download the instructions for a reset as the tftp address is nowhere near what I have setup. Well I followed the instructions and guess what they didn't work. The reason of course is darn near everything you see out on the net references a 'G' model.
So what is the sequence of something BEFORE a 'G' model? Well here is what worked for the Cisco 7940 I have --
Settings button --> 'more' soft key --> 'factory' soft key
That will unlock the phone and permit one to change the Network Settings.
My only question now is, knowing this is a pre-'G' model, can it be set to use SIP or not?
I can nothing on the net that can answer that question. Its like, ya got a 'G' model or it does not exist.
Thanks in Advance.
