They may be called digital phones, but they're most likely still using analog voice. The digital part is FSK signalling for MWI and the other features the phone offers

ATA vs DTA (TVA)

I have already used many ATA (Analog Telephone Adapter) devices to connect my old analog phones into my SIP soft-switch. It works great. BUT, I need to connect a digital phone (Aastra 5216) to my SIP soft-switch as well. I was told by one supplier that I could use the ATA for that but I am fairly sure that the ATAs only support analog telephones (hence the name). Are you aware of an adapter that will allow me to connect a digital phone to my SIP switch.
