There are approximately 15-20 Paul Leddys in the United States according to a name search at the University of Berkeley.
Careers range from guitarist to real estate management to architect to computer engineer to web designer.
I am not the "Paul Leddy" you'll get if you:
http://www.google.com/search?q=Paul%20Leddy
and click on the Gannongate scandal links.
I never lived in the Los Angeles area. I am not a photographer. I am not a website designer. I actually contacted the author, John Aravosis, of the most commonly displayed article on Google about the scandal, on Americablog. Per my strong request, he added these first two facts about the web designer in question. He did not add the web designer's middle name per my request, claiming it was not available, which I find very strange and unlikely.
My efforts to locate this particular "Paul Leddy" in Los Angeles came up with nothing. There is no contact for this person. He seems to have mysteriously disappeared from the face of the earth, which, again, I find very strange and unlikely.
My middle name is Charles. Which I never used until my name got me confused with the person who was involved in the scandal, especially since we both use computers in our work, though in very different technical ways. A lot of people use computers in their work.
I am a web applications engineer, systems administrator and network engineer.
Thank you for your consideration of these facts.
Also, please consider that there are thousands, if not more, people on this planet who have the same name as famous people, yet, the fact is, they are not these famous people, no matter how unbelievable this may appear to one initially.
Also, consider that never in the history of humankind has misidentification of persons become as likely as since the age of the internet and the rise of a database the likes of the one at Google. Hence, this identity problem has never been taken seriously, and no social method developed to counter it. It is not yet in the mind of the public; it is only in the mind of the few who get caught in the trap.
If these sound like frustrated statements in some way, it is because they are. My public and private life has been starkly effected by this identity confusion, and I am very frustrated that every time I meet a new person, there is the potential that they will Google my name and write me off based on a faulty first conclusion, without thinking twice. I implore you not to do the same, and spread the word on this issue with friends, family and colleagues.
