I can't say I agree. Overly hyped services though proudly Canadian.

Frequent outages for all sorts of reasons, excessive mail notifications, inflated prices, and slow/unhelpful tech replies. Been a customer for a long time, so I know.

The website could use a face lift too, the 90's website look is discrediting. That's not to say they suck, only that the Unlimitel I know is not the one everyone rants about.

Overall, a 6 or 7 / 10.

(Link2voip) SIP settings they work good for me.

I use more then one provider with ringdown so when a provider fails (maintenance issues whatever) no one really knows cause it hits up a backup provider.. Unlimitel is more professional for that sort of thing.. Link2voip would be good if they could just lose the number is unavailable msg! Make it a normal re-order tone or something phone systems will recognize as unavailable.

My experience with these guys is that while their tech support is reasonable, and their network is alright (they seem to boast excessively about racks of equipment and how there's a guard with a gun — like they expect a Mission Impossible espionage scenario any moment — but much less about customer service).

Their billing department needs some work. I had one month where their billing was messed up. In another situation, they lowered their pricing, but kept billing my account the old rate for several months. When I brought it to their attention, they told me that their rates are "grandfathered". In other words, even if they drop their rates, they'll keep billing you the old rate. I'd like to hear if anyone has had the opposite with these guys, where they get a low rate and their prices shoot up, but then they keep billing at the old cheaper rate.

I couldn't find any such 'clause' in their terms of use agreement. In fact, I found a clause that was supposed to protect me from price changes. Regardless, had it been for any notable amount (it was only $10), I might have bothered wasting more of my time on it... but the fact that it was for such a non-noteworthy amount? Stupid.

We removed our 3 line copper ringdown, and ported the # to unlimitel.ca

Been using their IAX2 services (two accounts) and its been superb with our Asterisk server. Support is top notch, service is the best i've used - we're running our business now off unlimitel's service with no analog services now! Can't praise them enough. Any problems have been from my screw ups thus far, and Stephan has offered to SSH in and take a peek. Top notch!

Before you purchase anything from this vendor get in writing their return policy (might be difficult - they do not have one).

Do some reasearch before you chastise others. I'm not associated with Unlimited, I'm just happy with their service. It's not an ad, it's a recommendation. So to you, I'll say, "pls keep your unfounded comments to yourself pls. thanks."

333Unlimitel - Highly Recommended

by arobar, Friday 03 of March, 2006 [21:46:20 UTC]
My company has just recently ordered two IAX2 trunks from Unlimitel (one toll free number and one local Toronto DID). They were activated on the Unlimitel network within 18 hours of our forms being faxed in. When we couldn't seem to get incoming calls to work, Stephan from Unlimitel jumped in without a second though to administer our Asterisk system and find the problems in our configuration. Within 4 minutes he found our problem, and we were up and running with 10 brand new VoIP channels. Besides the incredible service (seriously, find me another VSP who can show up an 18 hour turn around time, or one who's techs will go to such lengths to help you out), we've found that our Unlimitel lines sound better than our copper PSTN lines... Outstanding all around.
