Re: Functional Line Keys with Asterisk

Hi Mito,

I am facing the same problem and get busy tone on the second line.
As far as I could read in several other threads Linksys does not support integration with other SIP PABX but their own. Let me know if you'ver found a workaround.

Re: New Missed Call message

Did you ever get this figured out? We've got the same issue...

New Missed Call message

Hi, on our asterisk, when someone dials 0, it rings all phones, problem is that when you get to your desk, sometimes, you have many "missed calls" that don't really interest to me.

is there a way to only show missed calls when my extension was dialed?

or, can I get rid of the missed calls message on all situations?

or, does anyone know another way to make all phones ring that wouldn't be flagged as a missed call?

cheers,
flenders

Distinctive Ringing - Solution

Hi, I managed to find info on google on how to do this, and also some help on #asterisk.

simply add this as a first priority on the exten on extensions.conf:
exten => 0,1,SIPAddHeader(Alert-Info: n=Simple-4)

n equals to the name of the ringtone which can be found on the admin web interface.

Functional Line Keys with Asterisk

Has anyone been able to get the line keys functional with Asterisk? I have a handful of these phones, and before I knew that they didn't work with Asterisk properly I had also bought the $30 upgrade to get a 4 line keys to work as I have 3 phone lines for this office. I would really like to not have just wasted my money, so I am wanting to try to find a way to get these to work! If anyone has ever gotten it to work, or if you have any ideas on how one even _might_ get them to work, I would really appreciate the heads up!

Thanks!

Personal Directory Solution

I've been playing around trying to populate the Personal Directory.
Had a bit of a breakthrough today after updating to 5.1.5 firmware.
(This was on the SPA942, but I understand the two phones are very similar)

the following command will populate two entries in the Personal Directory

wget --post-data '24686=n%3DGeoff;p%3D6004;r%3D1&25390=n%3DMatt;p%3D6001;r%3D1' http://myphoneIP/pdir.spa

The 2 numbers in there relate to the Directory number (24686,25390). View the source of the Personal Directory page and you'll see them all there.
I'll probably write some script to pull this info out of LDAP and populate each of the phones overnight with a cronjob.
If things work out i'll be sure to post it back here.

There is a little bit more of an explanation over at my blog if you're interested:

Linksys SPA-941 Notes

I have a spa-941 (firmware 5.1.5) and I'm looking for some tips on how to integrate it better with asterisk (1.4.0 built from source). I'll post what I find...

Overall, this seems like a solid phone with decent features. Getting it going out of the box was straightforward.

Voice Mail Notification — I found that voice mail notification works fine on these phones if you add a "mailbox=" parameter to the phone in sip.conf.

Vertical Service Codes — I deleted them all and have seen no ill effects.

One thing I am looking for is information on call parking. When I use the xfer button on the phone to do an announced transfer to x700 to park the call, the asterisk server reads back the parking lot location (701), but on the console, it looks like the asterisk server is trying to park the extension I am transferring the call from rather than the caller. When I push xfer the second time, it disconnects the caller and the phone I am transferring from. Any ideas on this? I am able to park calls using the "#" transfer method after adding the "Tt" parameter to my Dial() commands but I'd like to have the xfer button work properly.

I am also looking for info on paging and shared line appearances.

I agree with louisn7 below on how the on call menu is setup with the blind transfer "hidden". I hope they fix this. OBTW, I should mention that a blind transfer to park a call works, you just don't know where it was parked.

Botond, I assume you figured it out by now, but I believe the handset cord is just a standard handset cord with rj-9 connectors (the small 4 pin ones).

Linksys Issues

We have just jumped through a lot of hoops to become a Linksys Voip Partner. Now that is done, I ahve spoken with the Tech Support at Linksys, and there is NO SUPPORT FOR ASTERISK. That being said, we are using it with asterisk, and absolutely love the device. But I haven't found a way to "enable" Paging or Parking. I spoke with the tech guy at Linksys, and it is enable by the server when conencted to it if paging or parking is enable on the 9000 server. Has anyone found a way to enable these buttons? I ahev spent a little time looking around, and there is not much information on this. And to answer a few of your questions below. The linksys Firmaware is locked and will not ever let you use an unused Line key for speed dialing, callparking, paging, etc. LINKSYS wants you to use their Phone system!!!

SPA942 firmware 4.1.18

Only recently started using SPA942's to replace a mix of Polycom 300 and 501. I have to say I am very impressed so far. However why is the blind xfer key not a default soft key when on a call? It seems weird as you have two blank softkeys when on a call. To blind transfer, you need to press the right cursor key then the additional soft keys appear. Unused line keys should be available for speed dialing like the Polycom. Lastly i cannot get distinctive ringing to work. The guide implies you just change the ring tone name to whatever is passed in alert-info but i can't get this to work. Our pbx using a : in the alert-info name, could this be the problem?
