These things are junk

BEWARE-- they sell a ton of these on ebay. There has been no firmware updates and there website hasn't seen a update in over a year. It still says under construction for everything. I have contact them repeatedly with no response. And they haven't address any issues in the form of a firmware update. If you are researching this ata. I think you would have better luck taking to $20's rolling them up and lighting them on fire to go through this.

Bought 3 bad echo issue

We bought 3 of these I am not sure why.. Probably because of the lack of reviews..
The audio on our end seems to be fine however the audio on the other end gets back background noise / echo..
The company is extremely hard to get a response from. I doubt there will ever be a firmware update as there site seems to be in a perpetual not finished state.
Until I get a response from them on this or they release a fix or at least acknowledge this on there site or setup a support section.. I would consider this company to have a prey on the uninformed consumers until we can get rid of these ATA business model.
Firmware version V1.49.002

If I am wrong please feel free to email me / let me know as I will be more then happy not to be out $200 bucks.

Difficult to work with...

We have 4 of these S100-FX 2.0 with firmware V1.49.002. They have been quite difficult. We still suffer from various echo problems that I have been unable to pinpoint. We were using a trixbox VMware image, but after switching to a stand-alone and a Sangoma A200D (2fxo/2fxs) we are still getting echo with calls from this iax2 phone. Sometimes they work fine, but other times the quality is suspect and borderline unusable.

I would like to point out that when I followed the 911 'hotline' instructions above, it turned my phone into a 911 hotline. I simply picked up the receiver and 911 was there... Not what I wanted. Maybe it would be cool if I could get a direct line to the Kremlin and a red phone to match my red stapler - pick up the phone and whella, but not what I'm looking for.

I use it as IP first with a 9 prefix for PSTN. I am concerned, however, that someone will try and call 911 in an emergency, instead of 9,911 and it would go VOIP instead of PSTN and call the 911 operator in a city far-far away. I don't know how to resolve this due to such poor documentation. I'll try another support email.

Static noise

I got the same noise problem with some phones, I was able to bypass the problem by connecting the device very far from an actual phone, actually in my server cabinet. But whenever it's connected directly to certain phones it make an unbelievable noise.

The client who was supposed to have this device, refused it. So I exchanged it for a IAXy, works like a champ!

Also, the CallerID names don't work and there is no support, no firmwares, no clues, nothing on the X100P.com site...
The only nice thing I found, is that it supports the g.729 codec.

I got both an IAXy and a S100-FX, and I would easily recommend the IAXy. We tried this device because of the lack of ringback on the IAXy, but it's unbearable.

Re: Firmware and static noise

Same here - high pitch noise. I've tried several different power adapters (notebook, radio, etc). I had the unit replaced - they sent one out in advance - that unit still has the problem as well. This all occured in the summer of 2006 - I'm still using the unit with the noise problem. Cisco ATA works better (callerid, callwaiting, etc) — except NAT — ughh :)

Re: Firmware and static noise

I'm also experiencing a high pitched static ... Did you found something to solve the problem?

Everything else works great with it.

Firmware and static noise

Where does one get firmware for these things?

Is anyone else experiencing a high pitched static with this thing?

No disconnect?

I have a S100-FX hooked up on my home phones through TrixBox. When I call in and transfer to the extension for the home phones, the call goes through like it should, but when my answering machine answers (an old-school answering machine) and I leave a message and hang up, the machine continues to record the "busy tone" which the s100-fx plays. Is there something I am missing in configuring either the s100 or Asterisk on how to get it to hang up the line right when I hang up?

Documentation? Howto? Anyone?

I just received one of these in the mail, and there's no CD, no single-page handout, nothing. There are no docs listed on the web site, either. (And it looks like they're on vacation this weekend, just my luck....)

So, does anyone have the docs for this device? Or even a clue on how to get it running (it hasn't even tried to get an IP address via DHCP yet)?
