Asterisk manager dialout

How to dial out with the manager API

Telnet to asterisk server ip_address to port 5038 (as long as you have a login set up in manager.conf) and send the following

 Action: Login
 Username: user
 Secret: pass

 Action: Originate
 Channel: SIP/123testphone
 Context: default
 Exten: 7275551212
 Priority: 1
 Callerid: Asterisk Automatic Wardial

 Action: Logoff

Works every time and it gets logged in the system too.

It does not matter if you disable telnet or not, because this is not using the 'telnet' server, as it is going to port 5038. It is using an asterisk server. He was only using telnet to show that you can use telent to talk to this server (just like any pop/smtp/http/etc server)

interesting, but ...

We disable telnet on every host, so we'd use SSH instead. If we SSH-d to the machine, we would probably create a *.call file in the spool directory.

Thanks.
