Asterisk with Freshtel

Freshtel is an Australian VoIP provider.

While Freshtel do not officially support Asterisk, it can be used with their system.

Asterisk Settings

In the following example, the Freshtel account number is 80001234 and the password is pwdpwd. An example DID, +61390952098, is also shown; this is only for users who have a DID from Freshtel.

; Set up preferred codecs
disallow=all
allow=g729
allow=ilbc
allow=g726
allow=gsm
allow=alaw
allow=ulaw

; Register with the Freshtel SIP servers
register => 80001234:pwdpwd@sip.freshtel.net/80001234

; Allow inbound calls from Freshtel
[freshtel-virtual]
type=peer
host=sip.freshtel.net
username=80001234
secret=pwdpwd
insecure=invite
context=default ; Or whichever context in extensions.conf you wish inbound calls to go to

; If you have a DID with Freshtel (eg +61390952098), you will need a section like this as well
[freshtel-pstn]

host=sip.freshtel.net

extensions.conf

; If for example you wish to use the __394__ prefix to dial out via Freshtel
