You can only use the adapter that is provided by AT&T."
333CallVantage and Sip
Interstingly, the kit includes a DLink DVG1120 router/firewall/VoIP adaptor based on the little-used MGCP VoIP protocol that has been part of the CallVantage offering since the service launched 6 months ago. Recently, AT&T announced agreements to market its service with SIP-based adaptors manufactured by Linksys, Netgear and Centillion Communications.

333Changes Jan 18 2005
2. Customer Service says the subsection of the agreement capping minutes at 5000 even on the unlimited plan has been deleted.
3. Virtual numbers now supported @ ~$6/mo per.
4. AT&T second level techs confirm that they will allow (but not support) any use of the TA from within your LAN (or WAN, I suppose) that you can make work. This includes a bridge to MDGC for terminating calls upstream through the callvantage TA to PSTN. If you can support this, possibly through Asterisk, AT&T does not have a problem with you playing 'Personal Telco.' I told them I wanted to terminate calls from my PocketPC over GPRS or WiFi using a softphone, and they didn't blink an eye.
5. Confirmed that NAT is now supported. There are differences of opinion regarding whether to put the TA behind or in front of the router. From browsing forums, some people seem to prefer keeping the TA in front, using a switch or 'front router' with QoS features to manage the bandwidth of each network segment. YMMV.
6. Equipment will ship next bus. day after order, and arrive in approx. 5 days in most of US. The service will go live approx 2 days later.
7. RE on the DLINK router offered by AT&T is good enough for 5 phones on each jack, according to 2nd lev. tech. (But they may have meant five, total. The rep was unclear on the concept). They will not give the exact specification, which they claim is proprietary. (?!?)
333Changes as of Dec 2004
