CIC (Carrier Identification Codes) are assigned by NANPA to identify long distance carriers. These codes also known as: PIC codes, Dial-Around Numbers, 1010 Numbers, 101XXXX Codes, etc.
Consumers when dialing a long distance call can force the call to be to routed to a specific carrier by prefixing the phone number with 101XXXX where XXXX is a carriers CIC. For example if the carrier's CIC is 0123, then the prefix would be 1010123.
