Cisco ATA 186

Created by: emv,Last modification on Sun 11 of Sep, 2005 [01:16 UTC] by darkskiez
The Cisco ATA 186 is an analog telephony adapter that allows use of ordinary phones with SIP.

These boxes are sold as part of the Vonage service as well, but note that they cannot readily be converted from Vonage to general purpose use without resetting firmware.

It isn't a strange set of characters... it spells PSSWD which stands for password. It's locked and requires an 8 digit password from vonage...it's $15.00 to get it from them

333resetting if you don't know password

by , Wednesday 05 of January, 2005 [17:16:43 UTC]
I have never set a password on my ATA. I have two boxes and I was recently setting up one to run through asterisk and now iI can't get into my dev page. It keeps telling me to put in a password that I don't know. I've always had issues using the phone config with it sicne I bought it, but I've always been able to use the dev page until lastnight. My friend and I got it to work through asterisk, but we only got a busy signal. So we setup the tftp deal and then the ATA stopped working. perhaps we made a misjudgement when setting up the tftp but it was setup before running it through the asterisks and it worked fine. How can I reset it without a password that I never set on the box. I've tried every single password for the different accounts and nothing. Any suggestions would be greatly appriciated as this is annoying and my only source of long distance other than buying phone cards. Thanks a bunch

333Service Contract Source

by , Tuesday 01 of June, 2004 [18:52:02 UTC]
Cisco ATA 186 can be upgraded to newer firmware (protocol) but this requires a service contract number to use on the Cisco web site which is the source of the upgrade software.

The contract, with number, can be bought from AMS.net. # yrs for $24.
