Terrible terrible echo when used as speakerphone

by Roman on Sunday 16 of March, 2008 [22:08:37 UTC]
I tried using ekiga with speakers and a desktop microphone (analog plugged into the same card as the speakers) as I do with skype and the caller on the other side experienced terrible terrible echo (they heard themselves). Has anyone managed to get ekiga or in fact any SIP/AIX client available for linux as a speakerphone and can share what micrphone/speakers they used and how they were positioned?

Re: Using SIP video

You might also want to have at least this in your sip.conf if you haven't allow=all ;-) (restart your client)

allow=h261

In the view menu you can then choose which partie(s) to see when there is a call.

To make a video session between 2 Ekiga's registered with Asterisk using SIP you only need to enable SIP video in Asterisk. So uncomment the following line in /etc/asterisk/sip.conf:
 videosupport=yes
