Grandstream website
Grandstream Support Forum

This video phone was originally only compatible with the H.264 video standard.
A firmware update (version 1.0.1.5) released on 16th March 2007 added H.263 support.
Support for H.264 is included from version 1.4 of Asterisk first released on 2006-12-23.

Where to buy

Note that these phones come with a power supply so make sure you get one which is approapiate for the country where you intend to use it otherwise you will need an adapter.

New Firmware 1.0.1.3

by Maxtira on Friday 09 of March, 2007 [13:20:02 UTC]
Latest (not GA) firmwares can be downloaded from http://www.grandstream.com/BETATEST/

In 1.0.1.3, among all the bug fixes, you have added support for H.263. I tested it with * 1.2 and it works. With X-lite. And looks very good.

There is a lot of other stuff in new fw. Check it out.

I have the phone working for a few days with it, and zero problems. It is quite stable (compared to previous fw's).

power adapter mix up

by janaka liyanage on Friday 19 of January, 2007 [09:34:25 UTC]
the power adapter is 12v rather than 5v in most other voip equipment.

Make sure that you wont mix them up, which will damage other IP phones.

GXV3000 works great with Asterisk

by janaka liyanage on Friday 19 of January, 2007 [09:27:50 UTC]
I tested GXV3000 with asterisk with good results.

Can register both phones to the same server or to two different servers that connect through a trunk.

However you have to use asterisk 1.4 which has the support for h264 codec, which is the only supported video codec in GXV3000.

The phone is limited by its camera resolution 300k but worth the price since it has good compression and quality video even in limited BW networks.

can you please elaborate about the way you mange to connect the GXV 3000 to Astrerisk

My first test with this phone...

by hell on Thursday 13 of July, 2006 [17:19:42 UTC]
I was needed of trunk version of Asterisk to get video support but quality is good.
Sound is poor (like the most of grandstream phones), some noises. I hope that it will be fixed with futures firmware upgrades.
Video quality is very good, and it support digital zoom.
Good screensavers updated by USB (it has got 2 connectors).

Its a very good relation quality/price product.
