Hosted Virtual Desktop
A Hosted Virtual Desktop (HVD), or desktop virtualization, is the term used to describe the process in which one's computer is hosted "in the cloud", or in a data center rather than in the computer's hard drive. There are many benefits to a Hosted Virtual Desktop including the reduction of capex in favor of opex. Hosted virtual desktops generally sacrifice some performance, however.
