The Linksys SPA9000 IP PBX
Linksys SPA9000 | Linksys LVS9000 System Diagram |
A complete VOIP PBX
- IP PBX system with high-end features
- Connect up to sixteen (16) SIP compatible VOIP Phones
- Self-configuration capabilities enabled with Linksys IP Phones
- Works with most Internet Telephone Service Providers
The SPA9000 marries the rich feature set of legacy PBX telephone systems with the convenience and cost advantages of Internet telephony. It has common key system features such as an auto attendant, shared line appearances, three way call conferencing, music on hold, "follow me" calling, and many more. The SPA9000 opens up access to the benefits of Voice Over IP, including low cost long distance service, phone number portability, and one network for both voice and data.
The SPA9000 is so easy to configure that a fully working system can be setup up in minutes. New phones are automatically detected and registered when they are connected to the SPA9000. The SPA9000 has an integrated web server that allow features to be configured using a web browser. The web server has multiple levels of password protected access to user and service level features. Service level settings may be locked by the Internet Telephone Service Provider to ensure they are not
accidentally corrupted. The Service Provider can remotely update the software and
settings through a secure encrypted connection.
With it's integrated router, the SPA9000 can be either connected directly to the internet connection, or connected indirectly through another router. The SPA9000 has separate WAN and local network Ethernet ports. The WAN connection can be connect through DHCP, a fixed IP address, or through DHCP. The LAN port can assign IP addresses to IP telephones and computers using NAT and DHCP. While the SPA9000 will work with any SIP compatible IP telephone, it is the ideal host for Linksys business telephones, such as the SPA941, SPA942, and SPA962. With little additional configuration, the SPA9000 supports the advanced features of these phones, such as shared line appearances, hunt groups, call transfer, call parking lot, and group paging. With its two FXS ports, the SPA9000 can support traditional analog devices such as telephones, answering machines, FAX machines, and media adapters.

333VPN and VGCP -- for VoIP Blocking issue
In today’s market, VoIP for business has become more and more popular and necessary than ever before.
Dubai has become a big market, many big companies need to open branch offices in the UAE allowing more profit and larger market access. Technology Issues become apparent during this process that can cripple communications for that company. The primary communications issues are with VOIP blocking policies implemented in Dubai.
Now, here is the good news, A Canada based company SpeedVoIP with their integral R&D team have work out a new way to solve this VoIP blocking issue. This new system VGCP (VoiceGuard@ Control Protocol) has now laid the path to streamline low cost telephony solutions removing country limitations.
VGCP is a proprietary layer 2 link protocol working at between IP stack and NIC driver for VoIP anti-blocking. The core patent-pending VGCP is industry's most state-of-art voice service provider class security protocol whose scalability and flexibility results in not to compromise voice quality and overhead. VGCP controls and monitors full voice signalling and media flow intelligently, meanwhile disguises sip and RTP packets into normal allowed data packets such as DNS and TFTP, and makes two-way encryption and decryption driven by user-customized policy. VGCP is fully transparent to upper SIP proxy or UA which means VoiceGuard@ can work with any 3rd party soft phone/ATA/Gateway/IP Phone/IADs and SIP Proxy or Server not like some competitors which take effect on their own device and soft switch.
Korea Telecom has implemented this solution successfully for more than one year. And it has been operational within a group of Dubai companies. The trials and implementations proves that, The VGCP solution is the best solution to solve the VoIP Blocking issue and provides stable communications platforms providing an indispensable part of the business network.

333backing-up configuration?
333HELP me in configuring SPA9000 and SPA941
333SPA9000 Help needed - Im flying blind.
I have recently moved office in Johannesburg, South Africa. We have one state owned Telcom provider down here. SA Telkom rates are the most expensive in the world (USD0.1/minute for local calls, 50c national calls and USD1 to USD3/minute for international calls. VIOP was illegal in SA until just over a year ago, and SA Telkom does everthing to frustrate SIP providers (pulls their DSL connections, wont hand out local SA numbers to SIP providers etc). We need some good anti-trust lawyers in SA. Needless to say, my US Linksys Vonage service has paid for itsself hundreds of times over, and so I didnt hesitate to buy the first SPA9000 to land in SA, several SPA942's, and a SPA3000 from the local Linksys wholesaler. We have ZERO support from the local Linksys wholesaler down here, and I am not able to get support from the US or UK SIPURA helpdesks without an authorised Linksys Support Provider code. Through trial and error, we have been able to get the system working to a degree. SA telkom setup is very similar to that in the UK. The SPA3000 will accept incoming analog telco calls, and the SPA942's talk to one another. MY local SIP provider works with asterisk and has limited time / interest in SPA9000 system. My problems are:
1. SPA3000 doesnt recognise the incoming caller hung up (SPA3000 remains engaged for about 30s after incoming caller has hung up).
2. I cant get conference calls or auto attendant to work. I have tried the wizard for the SPA9000 and for the SPA942's, and have upgraded SPA9000 to v 1.1.12 and upgraded the SPA942's to the latest version - but no joy.
I have taken screen-shots of all SPA9000, SPA3000, SPA942 web pages. Can anyone help with UK web settings that will get this to work? The screenshots are available on:
www.acacia.com/Linksys_SPA9000_3000_942_settingsAug06.zip (view in date-modified order with latest AUg 17 screenshots first)
Any help will be greatly appreciated. PS I will install SPA4000 as soon as it lands.
333Help needed from someone with SPA9000
All I ask you to do is run a packet dumper on your (unswitched) network which contains both a Linksys phone and its SPA-9000 server.
An example using ethereal command line under linux would be:
tethereal port sip -w output1.dump
Please run this command, then press the option key on your phone and select the last menu option (17) "Call Park Status". If possible, please do this twice: once while no calls are parked, and once with 1 or more parked calls. You could create two separate output files (slightly more convenient for me to analyze), or just put it all in one file if you wish.
If you are willing to help out but do not have a packet dumper I can help you do it under windows or linux or whatever. Please leave a comment here or contact me via email indicating your willingness to help. The Asterisk community thanks you!
