This page has moved

Please make Asterisk specific updates to Asterisk Linux SuSE instead.

This page will contain general SuSe Linux information

Part of UnitedLinux.

A couple of users reported problems getting Asterisk to work with SuSe 8.2 or 9.0 when zaptel hardware drivers are involved. Others reported success (for 8.2 at least).

I use 'termcap' and 'termcap-devel' in place of 'libtermcap' and 'libtermcap-devel'

333Symlink

by , Sunday 01 of August, 2004 [23:24:14 UTC]
cd /usr/src
ln -s linux-2.6.5-7.95-obj/i386/default linux-2.6

All the errors I was getting on make went away when I got that right. I think the files in that directory come from kernel-syms, because kernel-sources by itself was not enough to get things working right.

Could you tell me exactly what you typed to symlink? Every time I run make the compilier returns a couple of errors basically saying that the termcap library is missing and that there is an error in editline/libedit.a. Any idea what this means?

333SuSE 9.1

by , Sunday 25 of July, 2004 [11:04:06 UTC]
In anticipation of receiving my development kit, I built a SuSE 9.1 box and did the following. I'm far from a Linux guru, so I don't necessarily understand what I've done here, but it seems to have worked.

Installed the following packages
-CVSup
-kernel-sources
-kernel-syms
-ncurses
-ncurses-devel
-openssl
-openssl-devel
-bison
-doxygen

Did an online update to get everything current

Fiddled around until I figured out I needed to symlink /usr/src/linux-2.6.5-7.95-obj/i386/default as linux-2.6

made zaptel
made libpri
made asterisk
made samples & progdocs

I didn't see any fatal errors doing any of that, I'll find out how functional it was when I get my hardware next week.
