Wake Up Calls

One of the features of a PBX is the ability to send automatic phone messages. This is referred to as Voice Broadcasting and a common use for this feature is to perform automatic wake up calls. There are a number of commercial organizations that provide this service for a fee. Others, such as hotels and convention centers, provide a free wake up service using an automated voice broadcasting service.

Wake Up Calls and VoiceXML

Individual wake up calls can be implemented from a database server that collects information about the wake up call recipient (from a hotel registration system, etc.) and transmits this to a PBX via VoiceXML. The call information is sent to the call scheduler that initiates the wake up call on the date and time of the request. Intelligent information can be gathered such as a wake up call acknowledgement using an IVR system.
