The architecture that has been defined for SCN signaling transport over IP uses multiple components, including an IP transport protocol, a signaling common transport protocol and an adaptation module to support the services expected by a particular SCN signaling protocol from its underlying protocol layer. IUA defines an adaptation module that is suitable for the transport of ISDN Q.921-User Adaptation Layer (e.g., Q.931) messages.
