Built-in echo cancellation on SPA942

by Matt Hoffman on Friday 05 of October, 2007 [20:39:07 UTC]
Just upgraded our phones to 5.1.15a firmware, and noticed that it offers an echo cancellation feature in the phone. In using it on a line with definite echo, it appears to work fairly well, taking the echo down to just the first 't' in 'test' after about twenty words are spoken at the originating end. I don't see where an echo training option exists (within the phone) but it seems to be far better than nothing. The echo canceller does appear to need to re-train itself with each new call.

Second Line busy

Hi All,

Does anybody know how to overcome my problem of getting busy on a SPA-942 second line when the first one is on a conversation. I have the same configuration in both lines. If I use a x-ten as a SIP client it works fine.

For anyone that might be interested: firmware 5.1.5 fixed this issue for me (even though it's not mentioned in the release notes).

Re: Features that doesn't work

The line keys on SPA/Linksys phones do NOT function as BLF (busy lamp field, i.e. to show the line status). It's sad, stupid, but true...

Features that doesn't work

by Nicolas on Wednesday 29 of November, 2006 [20:46:30 UTC]
I try to setup the line status monitor on my SPA942.
Asterisk handle well the status of the line but the phone doesn't show it and I don't find any information about the configuration needed by the SPA942.

If somebody has already setup thi feature on this phone please feel free to tell me :)

Unfortunately, this is the case. I've talked with support at Cisco, and they claim the behavior does not exist. However, it does exist and is terribly annoying. When a NOTIFY message is received where the 'Messages-Waiting' parameter is set to 'yes', the backlight *should* illuminate. Unfortunately, the phone's routine that handles this is flawed and causes the backlight to illuminate everytime the NOTIFY message is received, regardless of whether or not messages are truly waiting. Until Cisco fixes this simple and obvious bug, you can do a couple things: 1) Reduce the annoyance by extending your registration expiration (Register Expires under Proxy and Registration) or 2) Update to 4.1.15 and set the new backlight timer option to "Always On"

Backlight comes on regularly on SPA-922/942

by Maan Bsat on Saturday 29 of July, 2006 [19:03:31 UTC]
The backlight on my SPA-922 (probably the same with the 942) comes on roughly every 30 seconds, and only lasts a few seconds. This is everytime it receives a NOTIFY message from my Asterisk server, to update it on any new voicemails. Asterisk, however, does it very frequently, even if there are no new messages. Hence, my phone lights up every 30 seconds, which is extremely distracting and annoying. Does anyone have any fix for this? Thanks,

Maan
