Configuration HOWTO

There are no known compatibility issues (IRQ, IO etc) with ANY Sangoma hardware and ANY make/brand of PC/server- NONE

03 Jun 2006 : But at least A200 cards are unable to handle fax properly. Be warned !

12 Jun 2006 : It looks like the fax issue is more or less general to all the products...

9 July 2006 : I use an A101 and have it working fine with incoming/outgoing faxes, and via TE400 with modems (dualarrow)

11 July 2006 : I have both A200 and A104d cards and can't get faxing to work (even when only bridging calls). Spoke with tech support and they recognize the problem and claim to be working on a solution. I asked when new drivers would be available and got a very unconvincing 'Hopefully by the end of this week.' I know these cards are supposed to be great but when you pay €2000+ for a telephony card you'd expect faxing, a most basic feature, to be working.

Sangoma cards have an international lifetime warranty

The Sangoma cards work with their own drivers with zaptel loaded on top so asterisk sees them as native ZAP devices. All cards are software selectable T1/E1/J1 and support a lot of other protocols like X.25, Frame Relay ... besides the usual voice stuff required for asterisk.

For the latest drivers check:

ftp://ftp.sangoma.com/FreeBSD/current_wanpipe/ for FreeBSD

Sangoma Driver Support and Assistance Wiki/Tips
NOTE: the wiki is fairly informative, but it looks like the documentation sometimes has trouble keeping up with the pace of development. For example, recently echo cancellation on the A104d was enabled via the Zaptel interface; which means that Zaptel dynamically informs the A104d when a given channel needs echo cancellation. This is implemented by way of having "echocancel = yes" in your zapata.conf file — in direct contradiction to the README.asterisk file currently included with the source. In addition, even in the wiki it fails to mention that the "echocancel = yes" line needs to precede the "channels" line for which it's intended. Don't let these small issues in any way let you think the card is less than top-notch; even on the most echo-prone lines, all is now clear. I'll never go back to doing an * install without EC.

Here is the voip-info page for the A200 Cards

Mixing voice and data on an Asterisk system works very well when utilizing a Sangoma card and the Sangoma WANPIPE driver.
