WiSiP

http://www.pulverinnovations.com/wisip.html

A wireless VOIP device from Pulver.com.

It also can come pre-configured with your FWD number, if you are interested.

It bears more than a resemblance to ZyXEL's P2000W, so Zyxel P2000W Asterisk configuration might be helpful with it.

Works nicely with zyxel FW

no posts on this one for awhile ;)
I have a broadvoice branded wisip that I have just put the latest (WJ.00.0I)zyxel firmware on... I'm happy to report that it works 100% better (lot of jitter/dropped calls with pulver fw), and is also unlocked from broadvoice.

I think the most interesting aspect of this phone is the fact that it functions as a normal internet host...it runs a webserver where can configure it, and it talks DHCP and SIP, so presumably it can do more.

If we could somehow figure out how to get into the firmware, it could be possible to write custom functions for the phone, such as using Google to lookup a business name, or a street address, or whatever, and automatically dialing that number (screw caling information, why not look it up yourself?)

Anon, I believe you mean firmware W*F*.00.0C, although my phone runs WF.00.0F, so perhaps your "latest" firmware is already stale.

Re: This *is* a ZyXEL !

Is there some super secret list you have to be on to get the firmware? ZyXEL nor Pulver have any publicly posted firmware.

()
Just the colours have changed !! Salesmen stroke again ()

And indeed the sound is pretty choppy in g711, however the latest firmware WJ.00.0C gives good results in g729,

A good phone for VOIPed geeks, perfect for simple direct calls.... Ready for an enterprise environement ? Forget it, SIP REFER (transfers.hold via softkeys), DNS SRV (fail-over) and mass-provisionning are not implemented yet...

"Soon, Soon..." ()

Not very impressive...

If you're considering one, wait and see what the Zyxel Prestige 2000W phones are like. They're identical (Pulver did NOT create these things — they're from a third party and just branded) and they'll probably have better service. I have a WiSIP and while it's a cool concept much work is still needed on the firmware. Menus are sloooooow and support from Pulver is nonexistent. There is a new firmware area on the Pulver Innovations site but it's password protected and attempts to contact them for the password are futile. I'll try to flash my phone with Zyxel firmware when it becomes available since stuff from Pulver apparently isn't available. Last but definitely not least, if you enable 128-bit WEP on these phones the audio quality is HORRIBLE. Degraded sound, clicking/popping, etc, like the phone's CPU can't handle the crypto load. 64-bit is usable but the sound is slightly degraded as well. It's NOT worth $250. Save your money and you won't be frustrated later. ()
