RE: VOIP and Satellite questions

by Dean Franks on Saturday 20 of October, 2007 [20:37:48 UTC]
I have had luck with BGAN service (Thrane & Thrane Explorer 300) and asterisk. Be aware that non-consumer satellite service is VERY expensive. Round-trip time is between 1 and 2 seconds, currently no service in east asia, pacific rim, alaska or hawaii.

If you are looking for europe/north african satellite service, RBGAN is much cheaper (but no service in the US).

VOIP and Satellite questions.

by Dan Swann on Wednesday 14 of June, 2006 [16:21:18 UTC]
I have been asked to set a a Vonage type phone with a connection using a satellite. I tried this once years ago with a DirecWay 4020 system. It did not have the up speed needed. Does anyone have any suggestions on satellite providers that work with this type of application.

Thanks

wireless SIP without IPsec?

by mcr on Thursday 20 of January, 2005 [23:41:36 UTC]
frankly I do not trust 802.11i/1x security. I've seen the insides. It makes me puke.

I want IPsec. Ideally www.wavesec.org style, plus Opportunistic Encryption to talk to others. This would be easy if I had a unit that ran embedded Linux.
Is there such a beast?
