Algo Communication Products Ltd. has released its new 8180 SIP Audio Alerter, an IP speaker designed for telephone loud ringing, voice paging, and audible alerting applications. According to the company, the device delivers high performance audio and can produce 30 to 40 dB more ring volume than a typical telephone.
A SIP compliant PoE network audio device with multi-function capabilities, the 8180 SIP Audio Alerter is equipped with a high efficiency amplifier and integrated loud speaker, microphone, and auxiliary outputs for an external speaker, slave amplifier, or visual alerter.
For loud ringing or audible alerting, a selection of audio files are included in internal memory – all configurable via a simple web interface. Alternatively, users may record or upload custom audio files, music, sound effects, or voice announcements to play in response to a SIP ring event, IP Command, or other possible stimulus. Wideband ringtone audio enables low frequency tones which are more effective than legacy piezo-element telephone loud ringers.
Lance Koster, from YourSIP Inc., had this to say about the SIP Audio Alerter’s audio performance: “The sound quality is awesome! As a hosted SIP provider this product will be very versatile in solving issues where the IP telephone is just not loud enough such as in a warehouse, car lot or machine shop”. Koster adds, “It’s cool that customers will not have to get rid of legacy analog paging equipment. The SIP Audio Alerter serves as a nifty IP gateway to an existing amplifier or network of speakers. ”
To be effective in variably noisy environments, the SIP Audio Alerter is equipped with SoundSure™, a noise compensating technology that automatically adjusts loud ring volume in relation to background noise levels. According to Pat Byrne, Algo US Sales Manager, “For many applications, being heard over background noise at an appropriate volume is critical for alerting staff without being unnecessarily loud. For environments with variable noise levels such as restaurants, workshops, classrooms, etc., the SIP Audio Alerter can step up the volume when necessary to be heard and provide a more comfortable level during quiet periods. For others, such as a hospital infant nursery or sound studio application silent telephone notification is commonly required, and the visual alerting capabilities of the device make it very practical.”
