NOTE: IF YOU ARE USING SANGOMA OR DIGIUM HARDWARE YOU MUST DOWNLOAD ALL RPMS AND INSTALL AS A COMPLETE PACKAGE FOR THE
DRIVERS TO WORK!!!
Installation on CentOS 4.x is straight forward. First run “yum -y update” to make sure you have all the latest software, then download the packages
you need:
cd /tmp mkdir asteriskRPMS cd asteriskRPMS lftp ftp.linuxsys.com cd /pub/RPMS/CentOS/4/RPMS get asterisk-1.4.42-D3.C4.SC.i386.rpm get asterisk-addons-1.4.13-1.C4.LSE.i386.rpm get asterisk-core-sounds-en-gsm-1.4.22-1.C4.SC.i386.rpm get asterisk-devel-1.4.42-D3.C4.SC.i386.rpm get asterisk-extra-sounds-en-gsm-1.4.11-2.C4.LSE.i386.rpm get asterisk-libpri-1.4.12-1.C4.LSE.i386.rpm get asterisk-perl-1.01-1.C4.LSE.i386.rpm get dahdi-linux-2.6.9-101.plus.c4.1.LSE-2.5.0-1.C4.SC.i386.rpm get dahdi-tools-2.5.0-1.C4.SC.i386.rpm get hylafax-server-6.0.5-3.C4.SC.i386.rpm get iaxmodem-1.2.0-1.C4.LSE.i386.rpm get iaxmodem-libiax2-1.2.0-2.C4.SC.i386.rpm get iaxmodem-spandsp-1.2.0-2.C4.SC.i386.rpm get kernel-2.6.9-101.plus.c4.1.LSE.i686.rpm get wanpipe-modules-2.6.9-101.plus.c4.1.LSE-3.5.22-0.i686.rpm get wanpipe-util-3.5.22-0.i686.rpm quit rpm -Uvh *rpm
Now check the boot order in /etc/grub.conf to ensure the LSE kernel is default (or select it at boot time) and reboot to activate the new kernel.
That should be all there is to it. If you run into any errors or incompatibilities, please contact me at the email address documented in the RPM
package. ( “rpm -q –queryformat %{PACKAGER} asterisk” )

Asterisk RPMS for RedHat
RedHat (7.3, 8 and 9) and Fedora RPMS
The RPMS on these FTP sites are experimental builds for
RedHat and are not officially supported or sanctioned by Digium.
Therefore, support will not be provided by Digium. Please be
respectful of this fact and use the high quality, extensive
resources provided by the Asterisk community for support. Chances
are that all of the questions you will ask have been answered in
the past. Take the time to research before you ask!
While the maintainers of these RPMS have made every effort to
ensure the widest level of compatibility and stability, every
Asterisk installation is different. Therefore, we would caution
you against using these on Production systems without proper
testing.
Currently, the nacs.net RPMS are being maintained by Gregory Boehnlein
<[email protected]>. Please help the cause by sending patches,
updates, suggestions and improvements by E-mail.
Quickstart
Download the appropriate RPMS for your distribution and install
in the following order:
rpm -Uvh libpri* rpm -Uvh zaptel* rpm -Uvh kernel-module-zaptel* rpm -Uvh asterisk*
Note: If you see a “asound” dependency error when installing the asterisk RPM, you will need to install the alsa-lib package.
Configuration
Installing the RPMS will not yield a working system and to get
anything useful working, you will need to configure Asterisk.
Special Thanks
These RPMS are made possible from a combination of work that I
have done and the excellent work of Tom Moertel
