ChanIsAvail() returning weird data asterisk 1.8

I am running asterisk 1.8 and trying to use ChanIsAvail() here is a sample:

exten => 200,1,ChanIsAvail(SIP/100)
exten => 200,n,NoOp(${AVAILSTATUS})
exten => 200,n,ExecIf($[${AVAILSTATUS} = 1]?Page(SIP/200))
;exten => 200,n,Playback(privacy-thankyou)
exten => 200,n,NoOp(${AVAILSTATUS})
exten => 200,n,Playback(privacy-thankyou)

I get 1092884845 in the ${AVAILSTATUS} variable which seems to be an identifier for the channel. The documentation says this variable will contain only the status of a channel in 1.8. Will this extension work? What changes do I need to make to get it to work. The documentation is somewhat spotty. I am using this * box for a paging system. Phones are in the 1xx range while loudspeakers--on viking auto answer devices are in the 2xx range. I want to check if a phone is in use and if it is not be able to page the speaker above the phone. So I am trying to get the available status and if it is available allow the page. But the variable does not contain the status. Please advise.
