DEAL Text to Speech Commercial License $27

This seems like a good service for only a one time payment of $47. The voices are the most naturally sounding I have heard from a TTS service. I don't yet see an API, but this would be good for an IVR, or making your own entire alternative recordings for a PBX so it sounds less Asterisk.

It seems they will start it as a monthly service in the future, but I saw where it was $27 for a one time payment about a year ago.

I've been playing with the Watson text-to-speech and am very pleased with it. It transmits back a sound file within 1 second of submission and has a variety of voices as well. I'm currently using it in a limited capacity to announce caller ID. I like that Speechelo above is a one-time fee and is not web dependent but without an API or interfaces for interacting with an application, its pretty much limited to creating your own fixed announcements.

Edit: It turns out it is totally web based and dependent on the internet.

It does seem their goal is fund raising at this time. Their site is filled with all the features, but is not disclosing everything. Looking at reviews, the $47 signup is the low end service. It is limited to number of voices, and 5000 characters. Still not bad.

Then they have Pro version, and I am not sure about the pricing of it, but you get all the voices and languages, and 50000 character limit.

According to their FAQ, they are looking to add an API in the future.

There is no API for it? Even without an API, I think I could make use of this, but with an API would be very valuable.

OK - so that say's that you get any updates automatically, but at least as of now, there are no API to assist you. I guess that's probably on purpose to stop people from buying it and then essentially reselling their web-enabled service. @KNERD , you've been happy with its production value though? Can you use it to generate IVR and Email recordings for those that don't like their own voice, etc?

There is no API because it don't exist yet. You can use the voices however you please.
I will probably get t soon. Just going to look over the reviews a bit more.

I for one won't be upgrading to "Pro" as I feel the main one that I signed up for should suffice just fine for me. Having a hard time seeing how they could sell the Pro when the non-pro does 90% of what Pro does and is just a one time fee versus monthly recurring.
