goal: mobile phone auto-dial to open door electric strike directly

Equipment:
Ipbx 2020.3, rasp pi 4,
grandstream GDS3710 door phone, extension NNN,
mobile calls and incoming route (CID/DID) to Misc destination using the *80NNN auto-answer works fine

is there a simple way to add the XXXXX# remote door open code using a DTMF string to the feature code to open the door?
custom context, perhaps?

The DTMF signals don't seem to work on an auto-answered line (security reasons I suppose).

I found a different approach with a similar solution of interacting "externally" with the door lock.
The GDS3710 can trigger a webrelay (controlbyweb.com) to open the door lock.
So I used simple custom context "extensions" to send the triggers to the relay
and use a cell phone CID/DID route so that an incoming IVR can
select which door to open or simply talk to the person at the door etc.

I think it was the first project I did to become acquainted with Raspberry Pi when it first came out. Basically the equivalent of what ControlByWeb's products do. My next was remote/web switching of my servers.
You can have lots of fun doing those things on your own. The fun stops when you realize that regardless how sophisticated you get with your design it's still hackable... :(

Have you tried actually manually entering DTMF after the answer, or did you jumble the string all together?

Isn't this sort of tech the stuff used in say Afganistan for eliminating so-called enemies?
Actually it is much easier than that. Instead of using the loudspeaker to hear a ring, it is used as a power source to ignite the material.

Algo and others make this solution -- I have replaced a number of Panasonic door phones with the Algo ones and PBXinaFlash for the phone system..

You would be better off using the vibration motor header. It supplies more power and while it's turned off you can continue to use the phone like a normal communication device. Just don't hold it to your ear once the the vibration mode is on ;)

LOVE LOVE the Algo 8028. Have many of them in the field and they just work. Typical setup is someone presses the button and you have a ring group of phones or just the receptionist to answer and press the 8 or 9 key - whatever you program to unlock the front door. Alternatively, you could have it ring your mobile or do about anything you want with it.

I have a Grandstream variety sitting on the shelf, just never setup, because the Algo just works so well.
