I'm running IPBX 2021 on Debian. For Avantfax, the max file size attachment is 2MB, which is pretty small these days.

I remember having this issue on my old IPBX on CentOS 6. It's hard to recall, but I think I fixed the issue using this post:

https://www.voip-info.org/forum/threads/avantfax-send-size-limit.12400/post-134311

On Debian, however, I cannot find a php.ini file. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Thanks!

I find a number of php.ini files but they are under /etc/php/<version>

Code:
 $ find / |grep php.ini
/var/www/html/admin/libraries/Composer/vendor/doctrine/cache/tests/travis/php.ini
/usr/lib/php/7.3/php.ini-production.cli
/usr/lib/php/7.3/php.ini-development
/usr/lib/php/7.3/php.ini-production
/usr/lib/php/7.4/php.ini-production.cli
/usr/lib/php/7.4/php.ini-development
/usr/lib/php/7.4/php.ini-production
/usr/lib/php/5.6/php.ini-production.cli
/usr/lib/php/5.6/php.ini-development
/usr/lib/php/5.6/php.ini-production
/usr/src/freepbx/amp_conf/htdocs/admin/libraries/Composer/vendor/doctrine/cache/tests/travis/php.ini
/etc/php/7.3/cli/php.ini
/etc/php/7.3/apache2/php.ini
/etc/php/7.4/cli/php.ini
/etc/php/7.4/apache2/php.ini
/etc/php/5.6/cli/php.ini
/etc/php/5.6/apache2/php.ini

Thanks, @kenn10 ! I'm getting better at basic linux cli commands.

I went through each of the links --> basically, the value post_max_size and upload_max_filesize are present in every file. I assume the trick is knowing which file is used by Avantfax. My suspicion is /etc/php/5.6/apache2/php.ini - but that's a guess. Anyone know for sure?

I can start changing the values file by file - just not sure that's a great thing to do.

Updated the values in /etc/php/5.6/apache2/php.ini

Code:
post_max_size = 20M (default was 8M)
upload_max_filesize = 20M (default was 2M)

Loaded the AvantFax GUI and the Max file upload size changed to 20M! Let's see what happens tomorrow at the office.

@DoctorJ: Let us know how it goes, and I'll push this out to everyone. Thanks.
I read in this article:
To ensure that file uploads work correctly, the post_max_size directive should be a little larger than the upload_max_filesize. For example, the following settings demonstrate how to set a file upload limit to 20 megabytes:

So maybe:

Code:
post_max_size = 21M (default was 8M)
upload_max_filesize = 20M (default was 2M)

Yeah, so funny that I spend so much time getting a good conversational SMS integration (looking forward) - but still must have Fax working 100% (looking backwards). Between Medical and Legal, I'm sorry to say that I don't see fax going away.

Usually, the legal people are the ones who stills consider Fax safer than emails.

I had relatives call because someone at their office had no idea on how to send a fax with their voip systems.

The very few faxes I had to send have been overseas bank stuff and a ballot. Amazing how someone could trust a low quality scanned paper from number not related to the client/voter more than an email.

Anyone here who could shine a light on the legal side of faxing?

Well I suppose there are people who think a fax comes from the origination number by connected copper wires, through mechanical switches at the near and far exchange ends, and back along a copper pair to an instrument that rings before the listening fax machine prints out the resulting binary raster image. Those were the days; but these days that is pure fiction.

"Fax copies can be considered legal documents and are often accepted as such in many agencies and establishments. Thanks to the almost flawless anti-tampering method when it comes to faxing, many businesses will accept a faxed copy of an original document, such a signed contract, as legally binding."

Amen. Until people learn how to send PGP email, we're stuck with it.
I am having trouble making Debian Avantfax dial out. Can share what type of install you have? Cloud or premise, if Cloud which one? Which VOIP provider are you using?
I installed iPBX2021 Debian with Avantfax in Proxmox VM and I am using VOIP.MS for trunk provider. I have seen this reported on a Raspi install and there is no reply to that thread.
