Refer to IEEE8023af for the IEEE standard version … some devices are compliant but some are not. The following proprietary variants are known:
Generic – usually 12 or 48 volts – pins 4/5 positive, pins 7/8 negative
Cisco – 48 volts – pins 7/8 negative, pins 4/5 positive
Motorola/Orthogon – 48 volts – pins 5/8 positive, pins 4/7 negative
_CAUTION_ No one but you is responsible if you connect the wires for your device incorrectly and damage yourself or your device. Assume that the table above is wrong until you have confirmed for yourself!
