Calling ID
Calling ID represents the digits passed from the carrier (or PABX) to the end user device (or between PABXs) that identify who the caller is.
Otherwise known as:
- ANI (Automatic Number Identification). Note that ANI is usually non-blockable and for some calls such as calls placed on the PSTN to 9-1-1 or toll-free numbers, will be given to the caller even if a calling-id block code is used.
- CallerID
- CID (Calling ID)
Typically a user can turn off CID sending from their own phone by dialing a feature code. Most corporations block CID or send one common CID for all the phones in their network.
