SIEMENS Gigaset C470 IP
The phone is based on the Siemens Chagall Platform.
Siemens provides detailled documentations (including user manuals in various languages) over the Web.
Siemens refuses to allow direct downloading of firmware files. So it’s not possible to upgrade a base connected to a private LAN, not connected to Internet (though current firmware allow users to edit URL where to download from). However, with clever use of traffic redirection and web server configuration, the task can be accomplished.
Configuring Asterisk and C470IP to work together
I would suggest looking at the documentation for the C450IP
The MWI functions of the phone do work with asterisk but you need to be aware of a few things.
- The phone sends SUBSCRIBE messages
- The NOTIFY messages need to have the correct Call-ID matching the SUBSCRIBE otherwise you may get a ‘SIP/2.0 481 Call Leg/Transaction Does Not Exist’ message
- In sip.conf [general] section set subscribemwi=yes (note this may break other phones that don’t SUBSCRIBE but need MWI)
- If you then start getting ‘404’ messages you need to ensure the party you are subscribing to has a match in extensions.conf in the device’s context
- It appears that whilst the NOTIFY is generated with the cached Call-ID the OK responses don’t match a known dialogue so they get sent a few times (retransmits..)
The easiest way to do call transfer with this phone is to use the code configured in
features.conf (usually #) . Remember to configure the phone to send DTMF events
as SIP Info or RFC2833, but not both!

Has someone managed to set Explicit Call Transfering Feature?
Notice: You will hardly find a power adapter for this phone, not because the 6.5V power switch is difficult to be found but the adapter that switches to phone is not a standard one. You have to cut the cord and you loose the guarantee.
