We are a newly-formed, venture capital-backed, next-generation communications start-up and are looking for an extremely strong CTO/VP Engineering candidate. The founders previously built and managed an extremely successful venture-backed communications company that was recently acquired at a high valuation. We are now working on building a new company to leverage the efficiencies of next generation communications platforms to simplify consumersࢀ™ daily communications.
The company is based in San Francisco, but will likely moving to Fremont or the surrounding area early next year. The company is well funded and seeking a leader who can build a team and execute on a plan quickly.
The CTO/VPE candidate will have an MS or better in Computer Science and many of the following qualifications:
Technical Skills:
1. VoIP Technology. Strong understanding of VOIP-based technologies, SIP stacks (reSIProcate, SER, etc.), standards, Asterisk as a feature server, new and existing codecs, inbound and outbound services, T.37 and T.38 internet fax, speech recognition, STT, etc.
2. VoIP Operations. Sound understanding of the business and technical issues related to provision of VOIP services, including billing, carrier management, routing, CDR analysis, operations analysis, etc.
3. Infrastructure. Strong understanding of the operational issues, critical measurements and tools necessary to successfully manage an infrastructure 24×7, including the ability to procure the right solutions and tools. Immediate challenges will include finding/creating and deploying a billing system and maintaining strict security of our databases.
4. Email/IM. Some background and understanding of web-based email and IM systems.
Work Experience: Strong experience leading and building technical teams with an ability to deliver solid systems in a timely manner. Start-up experience is helpful but not required.
