I was trying to remember why and since when I had a mild dislike about 3CX :yikes:
Then I remembered why - when I burnt my finger as I mistakenly touched the hot grill of my barbecue earlier!

It's because, way back, in the old days when 3CX used to be in Windows business they awarded us - contributing professionals - a free perpetual license which expired about a year later. That had given me a less than mild heartburn at that time.

It looks like my time will be over in this forum very soon (not that it will be a loss to anyone), as I still don't want to have any association with that company or their products.

Have you discovered any interesting voip forum lately?

Some of us hang out at DSLReports (dslreports.com/forum/voip) which has a different flavor than here, no particular favorites or biases, and usually some interesting topics every few days.

Speaking of being burned. 3CX, a couple years back, decided that it would be easier to return the money for the Pro license and Hotel module than fixing the bug in the Hotel module. This was back shortly after the v15 release. After almost a month of them working on the ticket we had for the bug, they just decided to refund our money and pull the plug leaving us scrambling for an install that was supposed to happen that week.

Do like the new look, thanks to 3CX for their support, gift horse and all that. Guess the worry could be censorship. I do worry about diversity of opinions.

For what its worth .... 3CX has had that role on PBXinaFlash for probably 2 years so now, and I haven't seen any censorship. I too do worry about it, but so far, so good.

Somehow I was under the impression that PBXInaFlash was a community effort and there was no corporate backing and seeing their name come up more frequently in the forums had started to trouble me a bit.
Heck, I don't even know when those guys switched their platform from Windows to Linux - so little I was interested in learning about them. Are they still based in Cyprus or moved their ops to the US?

The forum will continue to operate as before. As a matter of fact, a new category has been added named "Asterisk" and two others which were related to 3CX product releases have been removed. The goal is to help the community grow, not the opposite.. :)

They have nearly abandoned the whole site. They now only post occasionally about something new they offer.

I've removed one post, and here's why. 3CX provides an enormous (free) service to the many of us that rely upon PBX in a Flash or Incredible PBX or many, many other platforms. They do it graciously without asking for anything in return. How they choose to support 3CX customers is, of course, their choice to make. But I couldn't be happier with the professional relationship we've always had with the 3CX folks. For the few that may be unhappy with them, there are plenty of places to vent. But doing it on their own forum is not a very smart way to express appreciation for all they do for the rest of us.
