What does this Mail Queue error showing on the Dashboard mean?

Should I ignore it?

How can I fix this?

postfix is a service, you need to enable that

systemctl enable postfix
systemctl start postfix

systemctl enable postfix
systemctl start postfix
That did it. Thanks.

Do I have to set up some routine for this Postfix service to automatically start every time Asterisk or Debian reboots?

Just curious. Why would you switch from something that was working to something you know nothing about?? :aureola:

I would offer that in 2021 you need all of 'dkim spf and dmarc' working to ensure delivery and prevent being blacklisted or denied, sendmail generally gets low marks here, postfix and exim score better, either way , none are trivial to set up.

For inbound filtering I would suggest that comparing these MTA's gets the same score, again not trivial to set up.

A solid script that works and is not too much of a mind fcuk to setup and maintain would be likely acceptable to most folks.

Full control over your Name Service and TXT and MX records will always be needed, perhaps that will be the hardest thing to achieve for many .

For a mail server sending direct to another MX, yes.

But...

I think of the PBX more like an office copier/scanner, and nobody I know sets up dkim, spf, dmarc for a copier.

You give the copier a send only address on your domain mail server it can authenticate to, or point the copier to a smarthost/server that trusts the copier IP and properly forward the message.

Nor would I, but the copier is only a client of your email server, It will likely work fine if you want to relay through gmail, Sendinblue, Mailjet, SendGrid, Amazon SES, Mandrill, SparkPost, Postmark, MailGet etc. You would probably be happy with sendmail, but so would a simple mail client like mutt or mailx just as well as they will do that for you, no need for exim or postfix or any other clever MTA hsti.

If however you want to be have a real mailserver that handles inbound and outbound under your own monica then this thread is for you.

Nah, sendmail sucks, and mutt/mailx still need an MTA.

Arguably all FreePBX really needs is something like ssmtp or msmtp as the MTA. Config would be simplified, but messages would just error out vs being queued if connectivity to the mail server is down.

But @cporantes didn't need anything more than his outbound voicemail/faxes to work. All he really needed is help with sendmail setup, but got sent down the postfix path. Nothing necessarily wrong with that - the folks helping him were more familiar with postfix and got him where he needed.
