Hello all. I just set up Incredible PBX on Crown Cloud. I set up my trunks and extension to test. I called in and I could the the IVR announcement. I deleted that and created my own IVR, now when I call in I get silence until the announcement "we have not received a valid response, please try again". I tried both Allison and Generic for my IVR and still nothing.

Any ideas?

The logs or Asterisk command line will tell you why, but I suspect it is not in the correct format, or it is a CODEC issue.

Yep - review the CLI as you call in ... also you can check

Snake jumps out at me that...

If you could hear the one that came with the IPBX (then deleted it (I never delete the included IVRs as it helps in creating new ones) ), then you created a new IVR and get silence....yeah you would.

In the IVR creation it has a place for announcement to play -- it either says none or default, well, silence IS the default as no two IVRs are the same so how would it have a default. The detaiul on if you made a recording is missing from your OP, so that is why this jumps out at me.

Good Luck

haha - realized just now that I didn't finish my sentence.
also - you can check /var/spool/asterisk/full log

Never mind the logs you need to know where the sound files are located. The ones for the IVR are in 'custom' folder.
Code:
ls /var/lib/asterisk/sounds/custom/ # (to see the files that the IVR plays)

# To find your_filename.wav try with - substitute the name you saved
 find /var/lib/asterisk/sounds/ -name your_filename.*

You need to tell what you did to delete 'that' and how you created the new file.typ
A call trace would give some detail of the folder/names it is 'playing'.

If I do
cat /etc/asterisk/*.conf |grep ivr

I see something like
exten => s,n(skip),Set(IVR_MSG=custom/2&custom/ivr-Allison)

so custom/ivr-Allison.wav is the file you deleted is it?
and your new file is in ?

I did not delete any audio files, I simply deleted the IVR via the GUI.
I understand you have created a new ivr ? and so you have a 'System Recording' that you see in GUI under
Admin/System Recordings

If you edit (pencil icon) you can Upload your newAnouncement.wav in the lower part of dialog; or record one, etc.
as instructions on the 'Edit Recording' dialog.

Ah just found another 'custom' folder please check if you have the same?
Bash:
ls /var/lib/asterisk/sounds/en/custom:
# 2.g722 2.ulaw ivr-Allison.g722 ivr-Allison.ulaw nv-GenericWelcome.g722 nv-GenericWelcome.ulaw
# 2.sln 2.wav ivr-Allison.sln ivr-Allison.wav nv-GenericWelcome.sln nv-GenericWelcome.wav
 ls /var/lib/asterisk/sounds/custom/
# 411.gsm alexa_another.sln alexa_hello.sln nv-GenericWelcome.gsm nv-ivr.gsm reminder2.gsm reminder4.gsm reminder6.gsm
# alarm.gsm alexa_example.sln ivr-Allison.wav nv-GenericWelcome.wav reminder1.gsm reminder3.gsm reminder5.gsm today.gsm

Looks like asterisk is playing from the /en/custom directory
/var/lib/asterisk/sounds/en/custom/2&custom/ivr-Allison

You are making an assumption of what the issue is. While you are probably correct, why assume? Read the logs and learn what it say's to help you understand the problem better. He didn't say he has a codec issue, but he hears silence. While codec sounds logical, I'd still read the log.

Guilty as charged

Thank you all. I just wanted a simple welcome recording so I used https://voicemaker.in/ to create a simple text to speech file and uploaded it to my system recordings, set that in my IVR and problem solved.

I will go look another day at what happened to the allison audio file. I hardly have any free time right now.

Thanks a bunch to all :)

For what its worth ... Speechelo does some really nice TTS and I find it much easier than me having to have a quiet room to do recordings and redo things, etc. etc.

So pleased for you that his is solved.
If you had mentioned the detail of how you were doing what, then the responses would have made more sense to you as well helpful to other readers.

Many thanks for the post.
