Hello All,

I have a scenario where that comfort ringing is not needed when a call is made. I have FreePBX making a call to a (set up as a trunk) Grandstream HT-813 ATA. The ATA does the right thing and sends back a 180 ringing while it calls the end station. 1) does anyone know how to stop the ATA from sending the 180 ringing, or 2) what Asterisk Trunk Dial Option(s) I can use to suppress the Ringing when it comes from the (trunk) ATA?

I presently do not have the r option on the Asterisk Trunk Dial Option facing the ATA. Just the T.

180 Ringing doesn't mean actual ringing. It means "we are ringing the destination".

Ah. I knew that. But I was afraid, I don'k know why, that maybe for some odd reason, the Grandstream's 180 was indicating to FreePBX to start ringin' on the callers' side. So, How do I, if at all possible, suppress/stop ringing at the caller for this one set up. When the (any) caller calls the ATA, I don't want ringing to the caller? Is that configurable at the FreePBX?

If the caller is external, i.e. over the PSTN, then their carrier could send them ringback. You need to be more specific on who's ringback you want to stop.

The caller is internal. I want the Internal caller not to hear the ringback. This application is connecting the caller to a PA system. We dial (for example) 1111. This goes into an extensions_custom.conf file and does the following ...

exten => 400,1,Answer()
exten => 400,n,Dial(SIP/PASystem/,60,D(#11))
exten => 400,n,Hangup()

At line 2, the PA system sends a tone to the caller signaling them to "say their message". However presently, the caller hears ringing, and the PA tone is lost, so they start talking "is this thing on?".

Could that Answer() maybe be a Answer(2) to delay/suppress/buffer (something) that ringback?

So the PA is supposed to auto answer the call and play a tone back? Is it answering the call?

Yes, the PA auto answers and plays a tone. Yes, it answers the call. THe caller(s) are just confused about that ringing, the lost PA tone and they just start talking "is this thing on?". If I could silence the ringback at the caller, and just hear the PA tone, that'd be great.

Thank you Samot for engaging here to help with this.

Why are you doing an Answer() at the PBX if the device is auto-answering? Looks like we need to see some debugs as ringback should be stopping when the call is connected. You'll need to post some call traces so we can see what is happening during a call.
