Hi all - I hope this forum isn't controlled by 3CX...

I asked on 3CX's forum about the Yealink T42S and their documentation saying it could work as a 'router phone', and it actually not being possible. It was a polite message, asking for clarification about if the documentation was wrong, and they got very angry and banned me from the forum and the CEO emailed me letting me know he'll be revoking our free license 'in a few weeks'. We were planning on upgrading to a paid plan (PRO 8SC) anyway, due to their shenanigans with crippling the free plans we got when Ward first promoted them.

So, after this experience, we'd rather not give them our money. We're after a pretty simple to use (for the end user) self-hosted PBX option for cheap - preferably free. I know, this is a common question - but our main issue is that we used the 'tunnel' and the softphone apps a lot. We know the 'tunnel' itself can be replicated, but the integration with the softphone app was what we loved. It made things so much easier for end-users!
At the time of moving to 3CX, we only had a couple of domestic lines... now we've got at least 10 trunks as we've developed a small business! Now it's been a few years and we haven't kept in the loop... are there any alternatives that've replicated that experience?

Before 3CX, we'd used PIAF3, FreePBX and Elastix (before it was destroyed..) so we're not unfamiliar with them.

Help would be much appreciated - thanks!
Dan

(ps @wardmundy i'm happy to email you some more details about my experience with 3CX, if you desire...)

Don't feel too bad. You're not the first person/company 3CX has done this with. They did it to our company and at least a half dozen others that I saw in other forums over the last 6 years or so. In our case, we upgraded from v14 to v15 and it turned out their hotel module still hadn't been updated for v15 so it was completely broken for our systems that were in hotels. Instead of making the hotel module work they said it wouldn't get updated to v15 for some time with no ETA and when we asked to be reverted back to v14 licenses we ended up having all our licenses revoked and they just gave us our money back. Which, in the end, left us with non-working PBX systems at hotels we had to replace at no cost to the customers but plenty of cost to us.
