Hello everyone,

I am diving to this from scratch as I know nothing about sms webhooks. Just a simple question, what application do you recommend using to receive and send texts from? Can texting be done from the User Control Panel, a third party application like ZoIP, or soft phone capable of text messaging?

My PBX network currently consists of PBX server, grandstream soft phones to receive and make calls.

I already have determined I will use Twilio to host the number and communicate with my PBX for sms webhooks.

Thank you!

I apologize I did not mean grandstream softphone but a SIP phone. I have a Grandstream GXP2170.
I will install and try the the recommended sms connector, thank you!

Did you sign up for 10DLC via Twilio?

How are you going to handle the automated and required responses for opt-in, opt-out and help requests?
I think this should be upstream for most pbx users but I do wonder if it should be added in as a feature to the sms module, not that sangoma will do that. Alternatively perhaps a feature request to bill

Upstream where? The service provider should be doing it? Should it also include them checking to make sure messages aren't being sent to opted out users? I get that if the provider is a messaging provider designed for this but a provider like Twilio that just offers API options....not sure.

Did you find an application to use for this?

You can try using a temporary number service like this one to receive SMS messages. It's a good solution for webhooks or app testing, especially when you need a quick number for verifications.

I was not able to get this working with my PBX.

I ditched it and coded an access application that resembles whatsapp, telegram. I used a php server to handle the webhook logic and hold my tables.

I still don't know how the SMS plugin would work in IncrediblePBX, from other posts, it seems like this might only be an options by using a specific VOIP provider which I'm not interested in doing since all my numbers are hosted in Twilio.

If you just need a simple send/receive you can create a 1 page php or nodejs page.

You can have it send via api, and have it act as a webhook and save to a file/db while also having it parse and display it.

If you want something cleaner, I made one using budibase awhile back as a test for a friend. Its a no code webapp maker.
