I have a client who wants me to set him up an auto attendant for his restaurant. One of the options that is befuzzling me is how to change the audio for the daily special.... well, daily. I know we can do a person in the restaurant call in and read it out and have that set as the message but in this day and age of all things generative or heck even the old school TTS stuff that ran locally is there a way they could upload a file somewhere and the pbx pick it up and change the daily special?

I have used an applescript to produce audio files from text and then updated the recording through the web interface a bunch of times. If I had to do it everyday I would look to automate the upload part, but I've not had that need personally.

I'd imagine there are lots of other ways this could be done, but I think the basic principle is the same.

Did you use the on-device TTS or did you use a 3rd party service? I want to keep the voice as similar across all the IVR stuff but that could be more difficult.

I used one of the built-in voices.

IIRC though, there are options available now which will take a recording of anyone and output new material in that voice. I can't recall the specifics, but it should be fairly easy to find with a bit of searching. I know I looked at some github code earlier this year sometime that you could run locally at pretty good speed on modern hardware which would work for that.
