SUGGESTIONS Cisco 7970 Treasure Trove

Here you go.

Log.txt : This is a call from a SIP extension (101) to a SCCP one (200). I answer, check there's no audio, and hang up.

Log2.txt : Same thing in reverse.

There is an error halfway through in both cases, where the phone seems to want to load the firmware file again.

You can also see the complaint about lack of RTP.

I have redacted out my MAC address, dunno why really, but I did.

Thanks for your help. This is turning into a bit of a :banghead:

The only thing I can think of is the sccp driver you are using. You might want to try the chan_sccp.b version.

Any time there are more than a dozen pages of postings on a topic, it should tell you something. :leaving:

Yea yea yea. One of these days I'll order a 57i.

Until then... :willy_nilly:

I've not seen it.

Well, I guess I can reinstall PiaF and start the whole thing over.

I wouldn't go that far yet. if you do a sccp show version at the asterisk cli, what does it return? Is it version: 350?

I know that SCCP will work, I find it more of a PITA though with having to remember to do the custom extension and such. I have gotten a 7921 and 7970 working on one of my demo boxes for work. I typically use SIP though on all the phones just to keep it simple, I only have SCCP support for the 7921.

And although they are a PITA to get going, the XML applications that you can develop blow all the other phones away. I use my 7970 every morning to pull up the traffic cams that follow my route to work. I also have all my security cameras on the phone, works great for my basement office so I can see when the wife gets home and I need to come out of my cave.

I'll have to fire up my other Piaf server and do some testing at least with my 7921.

tabbertmj - do you go to the twin cities asterisk user group meetings?

Just checked a few pages back and didn't see this, have you done an echo test yet from the phone?

No I don't. I was wondering if there were any. If you know where I can find information on them, please PM it to me.

Did you write a custom app for the cameras? That could be handy. I like the video idea too.

I do have a custom app wrote for the phones. I'll try to clean it up this weekend if I get time and send it over. I'm actually working on a whole suite of applications with a front end manager for the phones to deploy security rights etc. I find it useful to have all my contacts accessible via all the phones (similar to asteridex) as well as the fun apps like the cameras and home audio control.

That would be great. I have two 7965's and one 7970 running right now. I have one 7970 that's down for the count. Plus a mix of 7960's and 7961's.

As for an echo test, don't I need audio for that?

I'm at protocol version 3. The one you are running is much newer. This might be an issue. I'll try to see if I can figure out how to upgrade my test box and try it soon.

According to the log, the phones ask for 17, the server responds 11.

I can try an earlier version I guess.

Is Asterisk 1.4 the problem? Should I use 1.2?

If I use chan_sccp_b_20071213, everything works.

The smilie collection seems a bit inadequate for the task, so I have to make do with :hurray:, but the reality is much, much more.

I guess the problem is that 20090110 was the default offering when I built SCCP, I didn't think to go back in time and use the driver which is a year old...

Looking back on it, the whole process was actually really easy, but massively lengthened and complicated by my not knowing about iptables, and the issue with the chan_sccp_b. Without those two setbacks, I could probably have got this all done in 2-3 hours at most.

Thanks very much everyone. Can we have a plug away at the 20090110 version of chan_sccp_b to see what the issue is? Apart from anything else, otherwise we're going to have a lot of idiots like me blundering around and suffering when there's a simple solution...

I run Asterisk 1.4.22. S that should be fine. I think it has to do with the version of chan_sccp that you are running.
