Last year I converted most of our phones over to piaf/aastra. I left the hotel room phones on the old mitel system since there was no ethernet in the rooms.

Its worked ok since most people dont use the rooms phones much anymore other than to call the front desk which i left an old mitel phone on their desk. the guest can still call out also. But no one can call into the rooms since my local guy for the mitel pretty much wont help me hook the old system to the new.

Here is my problem, the old mitel died today and i dont want to fix it. I have 36 analog room phones i need to hook to my piaf system.

Im familar with the audiocode boxes a little since i have a AudioCodes MP-118 i used to hook a few of our older analog phones in and i see they have a 24 ports box also.

anybody have a suggestion on the best solution to do this?

Hi

Look at an Astribank from Xorcom, and I believe they support MWI, so you could replace the Mitel phones with something very cheap and cheerful, as the intelligence will be devolved to Asterisk and FreePBX.

Ditto on Astribank. Also, check out the SPA8000 from Linksys/Cisco. Each SPA8000 gives you 8 analog ports via ethernet. The Astribank is a USB connection.

Well,

Don't know the size or type of server you are using, but I would assume that everything is cabled back to the demark for the Mitel and probably uses a RJ-21X style interface.

So, you might look at the Samgoma A400 cards, the LInksys SPA-8000, or an Adttran / Carrier Access Channel bank.

The Audiocodes also has a good solution, but their service contract / support contract program remind me of Cisco's program..

Good Luck..

that astribank looks like it would be great except for the usb , since my phone termination room is 3 floors down from the server.

Hi

Your IP-PBX should be easy to move with a single run of CAT5.

You could look at the Rhino channel banks, but they will require an E1 card.

Joe

Add a cheap server in the phone closet like an Aspire Revo and connect it via IAX to your main server.
