I just can't build PCs anymore and come close to beating the cost of these little dudes for workstations.
Now I only build servers, which is quite infrequent. It's much easier to repair. Had to literally jam a new power supply into my Dell SC440 years back. All those proprietary parts and configurations....

Dell is the worst, perhaps. I would typically build my own desktops unless there was a great deal on a pre-assembled unit (which has happened a lot over the years -- sometimes I couldn't build for as cheap as I could just buy). But working on my and my friends'/family's Dells: yuck. Proprietary everything. Even adding/swapping RAM, HDs and video cards (if possible) can be a nightmare. A PS? A processor upgrade? Unlikely.

A year and a half a go I bought a Lenovo that was utterly tricked out with a just-superseded processor and a just-superseded video card (4080 Super). Couldn't come close to building the equivalent by sourcing parts myself, and it has been rock-solid, quiet and cool. One more hobby bites the dust...
