Adtran switches

Has anyone used them?

Have a strange situation where an extension or two goes offline (still pingable, but no SIP traffic). Rebooting the phone does not help, but if you move the switch port then move it back again it's fine.

Wondered if anyone has seen "unusual" issues before.

For others reference switches that work are:

Nortel Switches
HP Procurve (even the 3com branded Vseries)
Cisco Catalyst

Switches that I know don't work reliably are:

Netgear
Cisco Small Business Switches

Yes, I had one that worked for two months then stopped (one way audio etc). Changed out for a Nortel, and the problem went away (rebooting the switch also didn't work). The issue is they don't work reliably. Also, the model I used is a newer one . . . perhaps the newer ones aren't as good. It was a 24 port poe though.

Are they layer 2 or layer 3 switches? Do you have them VLAN'd? If so how are you routing between VLANs? How are you routing?

They're layer 2. They do not need to be VLAN'd because they are 100% separate (ie the networks do not converge except at the firewall for internet access).

I suspect that the storm protection on the switch may be set too low for VOIP. Perhaps the switch is seeing a storm due to the RTP frames during a call.

That may be. I didn't actually install this part of the infrastructure. I'll have to look up how to configure Adtran switches so I can explain.
