Hi everyone,

I bought a second-hand AudioCodes MP-118/4FXS/4FXO/3AC to use with Asterisk. I was able to configure the FXS ports without any problems, but the FXO ports are behaving strangely.

The ATA is not recognizing the FXO ports and is reporting the wrong version of the device (it is showing MP-118 FXS instead of MP-118 FXS_FXO).

Here is the information about the device:

Has anyone else encountered this issue?

I'd suggest that the FXO card is missing or defective. I hope you can return the unit.

Have you double checked the firmware is correct or factor defaulted the unit?

Hi, kenn10. I don't know if the AudioCodes MediaPack series has internal cards. I think it's plausible that it could be an electronic defect. Unfortunately I already purchased the equipment some time ago and it won't be possible to return it.

Hi, Samot. The ATA originally came with firmware version 5, I reset it to factory defaults and the problem still persists. I updated it to version 6, but there was no change.

I found two firmware versions for this device: MP118_SIP_F*.cmp and MP11x_SIP_F*.cmp. I tried both, but I couldn't get the ATA to identify the model as MP-118 FXS_FXO, instead of MP-118 FXS.

I also tried using the AcBootP tool provided by AudioCodes, but I couldn't get the ATA to download the firmware. There is a tutorial for the tool on YouTube, but the device doesn't behave the way the video shows. It must be some setting in the ini file that isn't shown in the video.

From the Device Information it looks like an 8 port FXS box, but it's a long time since I worked with any AudioCodes hardware so I could be wrong.

Hello, Dallas. As far as I know, the MP-118 has 3 configurations: only with FXS ports, only with FXO ports or with both types of ports.

My ATA is a hybrid model, with FXS and FXO ports. Here are some pictures of the device:

I've been looking back through old posts about the MP-118 and there's this very old thread that might interest you.
Particularly post #9. The board type is set in the Ini File.
I've already tried changing the board type in the ini file, but it didn't work . Apparently this information is generated automatically by ATA. A big indicator is the comment prefix (semicolon) of this information.

I actually have a Vintage Installation Manual for Version 5.8 if that will help you.
