Hello Gang,

Life has been busy. Not much time for VoIP/PBXs lately. I retired. That is cool. Now, busier than ever.
I needed a PBX, so of course my first choice was IncrediblePBX 2025!

I happened to have a spare Ubuntu 24.02 VPS, so I installed it there. So, far, fabulous. Thanks to the
team for great work.

I'd like to add VM Translation to the mix. I presume the Watson STT works? However, the last tutorial was for
IncrediblePBX 2020. I don't want to gum up my new install with an old script. Also, has anyone integrated
an AI voice provider for TTS/STT? I have accounts on quite a few providers...

Any guidence appreciated...

Watson works fine if you want, no script required. Go to the sendmailmp3 script (usr/local/sbin) that's already there, find where the API credentials are, input yours, and just change the URL to be whatever IBM says you use on the page where you create the AP key:

URL="https://api.us-south.speech-to-text.watson.cloud.ibm.com/instances/[something specific to you]".

Yup to Watson. Haven't tried any AI stuff on IncrediblePBX. I played with it on VitalPBX and it was dog slow so I figured it isn't ready for prime time. Too much delay for a response. "Welcome to XYZ Corporation. Please tell me what department you want." Response: "Accounting." 6-10 second later. "Transferring you to accounting."

Just too sluggish for prime time.

We used Nuance as a voice/digit receptionist with our Cisco UCM. It was very fast and efficient. Sure, you had to program it with acceptable word input for each prompt but it worked flawlessly. I think unless you have your own high powered data center to process AI, its not close to being as fast as a dedicated application like Nuance.
