I'm upgrading from the obsolete PIAF Purple and don't know which release to install, and how to backup/restore (I hope) to the new version, plus move all of the VMs, .mp3 files and so on with the least fuss.

While the latest version is good, it may be better to install the most recent version that will import the Purple, and then migrate from it to a more recent version that allows a restore and so on until current?

Ideas?

It is likely that your system is so old, you will need to set up a new one and then simply copy and paste to the new system. What version of FreePBX are you running? You might want to consult with the FreePBX forum on intermediate steps to get you from where you are to the latest version 15 of the product. Once you get your FreePBX upgraded and work out the kinks, you can take a FreePBX backup and restore it to your new IncrediblePBX system in the cloud.

If your FreePBX version is older than version 13, you are pretty much out of luck. Just like any computer system,, you need to stay on top of upgrading in a timely fashion to avoid this kind of pain.
