Dear sipgate customer,

We regret to inform you that all sipgate.com services will be closed by the 31st of October 2013.

What happens on the 31st?
All services offered at www.sipgate.com will cease:

· You will no longer be able to receive or make calls with your sipgate account's phone number(s);
· Account login at www.sipgate.com will not be possible;
· Emergency Services (911) will not be available via sipgate.com;
· Call records, billing history will no longer be available.

Advice: Please be sure to download and save all account billing and call records you wish to retain prior to service closure.

Can I port my existing sipgate.com number(s) to another service provider?
Yes! If you want to keep using your number(s) provided by sipgate Inc. after the 31st you will need to transfer them to another service provider before sipgate.com services close. To port a number off your sipgate account please contact your new service provider. They will handle the number transfer on your behalf.

What will happen to the credit balance on my sipgate.com account?
The remaining credit balance can be refunded. To get a refund of your account's credit balance please provide your PayPal e-mail address and your sipgate Account No. (7 digits): [email protected]. The refund will be transferred onto your PayPal account. Should you have no PayPal account please provide a valid e-mail address and your sipgate Account No. (7 digits) to further the refund process.

We greatly appreciate your custom and wish to ensure the closure of sipgate USA's services causes the minimum disruption to you.

Thank you for using sipgate.com

Faithfully,
the sipgate.com Team

That is interesting. I haven't received an email like that. Plus, when you go to the website, it has no mention of it. Logged into my account, still nothing.

Funny, there were "doubters" on dslreports also. "Is the e-mail real?" "I didn't get it yet!" Etc.

I, for one, hope that it is real. Sipgate's US service has been lousy since launch. Good riddance!

I got the email, though I can't tell you the last time I used them. I'd say well over two years. I stopped using them whenever the direct gtalk integration started.

Sipgate.co.uk has always been reliable and worked well for me - I hope their UK service continues. I have not found any information out, not received any email - I have emailed them asking for info.

Edit - they have replied, sipgate.co.uk is not closing, I'm pleased - I get the impression the US service left something to be desired from what people say here, but the UK service is great and I have been a user since at least 2005.

It also seems sipgate.at - the Austrian service - is closing down from 31 December according to a message on www.sipgate.at. Sipgate.com displays the message 'Unfortunately, due to issues outside of our control we are not able to offer our services to new customers anymore.' on their signup page.
