Is this available for Incredible PBX? I see that it is for RasPBX, but would prefer not to switch.

Our reluctance has been that it's such a lousy technology and the sound quality gives the underlying product a terrible reputation.

OK, so I guess that means not?
Ah well, will look for another solution ...

Should be simple to add if you really need it. Lots of tutorials out there.

I think you are mistaking chan_dongle with chan_mobile (chan_mobile uses bluetooth and bluetooth enabled cell phone for the calls). chan_dongle uses a compatible USB dongle plugged into your server. Believe me there is nothing lousy about the sound quality with chan_dongle. I use it in 3 different locations in different countries and there are zero issues. In addition incoming text messages (to email) and outgoing (via a web interface) can also be configured.

Sorry. My bad. Long day. Will look into adding it.

Super easy for initial basic setup, make sure you get a fully compatible modem. I remember moving away from Elastix and finding IncrediblePBX because Elastix kernel was too old and have too many issues with chan_dongle.

edit: compatible modems on ebay at 15 from china, just search chan dongle

Actually, this weekend I came across another set of RPi add-ons which, while a bit more pricey than a USB 3G dongle, probably offer more reliability: GPRS/3G/4G shields from sixfab.com. The GPRS version is $35, the 3G version (base board and module) is $90, and the 4G version is $120. Since they are brand new, I doubt that anyone has already integrated them into Asterisk.
Here is a feature comparison chart.

Just in case anyone is still interested.

I have tested chan_dongle in issabel4 [*11] and ipbx on a rpi3 [*13], both machines with 2 dongles working nearly flawlessly. Dtmf is quite flaky when a call enter via the dongles, caller need to press every digit for a longer time. Just like a remote when is failing.
