I have been keeping an eye on clearly since they started and always thought it was a bit expensive but currently have a real need for SMS integration with IPBX, only question is does the DID's given by Clearly identify as mobile or VoIP?

There are a few 2fa accounts that do not offer a qr code and require an SMS or phone call but do not accept VoIP numbers. Just want to know if anyone has any experience with this use case. Don't worry I have a plan b if this doesn't pan out.

Only mobile numbers can show up as mobile. Our numbers show up as Non Mobile but they accept full Short Code SMS which is what most 2FA looks to. I am not aware of anyone who looks to mobile direct. All the ones I know are looking to see if the number accepts Short Code inbound SMS.

Thanks for the info, will try to test it out this/next week.

Just signed up, and I think there was a huge miscommunication. I want to receive and reply to SMS, mostly to receive 2FA on. Won't be sending in mass or anything that would require a 10DLC but looks like that is the only way to get SMS enabled on the DID.

Thanks again for the info, but I don't think this is for me.

All VoIP is considered 10DLC.

10DLC is required to send or receive messages. There is no way around it anymore with VoIP numbers.

afaik Google Voice accepts short code sms but my bank's fraud department has a problem with it. It's maddening because they will happily use the number for 2fa to, for example, verify my logins to the website or app but if they suspect fraud transactions and I call in to verify, for some reason their system kicks back against that same number. Even more frustrating is that sometimes I actually get the 2fa code they send but the CSR says the system won't allow them to input it because my number is a "voip number".

Make what you will of that, I'm not expert. Just adding a data point here as this is something that has irritated me for quite a while.
