Cordless 57i CT

Can someone explain the cordless handset in the 57i CT?

Is the same phone, but has a cordless handset? Or can the cordless be configured as a separate phone altogether?

I am just starting to get into this for both my business where I have a number of developers all using vonage/skype, and now I want them all in one system. I am also considering using this in the house. In the house I want a combination of wired and wireless phones, and I want them all to be able to intercom one another or all at the same time for the "dinner time!" call .

Back to my question. I have been reading up and 57i seems like a great "office" phone. The question is what do I use for the cordless phones around the house. Should I use the 57i CT ? Or should I be going with the SNOM M3?

Advice and thoughts would be appreciated. I have already ordered by standalone PC and as soon as it arrives, the fun will start.

Hi -

Just got my 57i CT - great looking phone and all. Basically, the cordless function appears to be nothing more fancy than an "extension" of the corded/base phone.

If you pick up the cordless phone and press talk, Line 1 on the base station lights up - you should be able to access any of the lines/accounts of the base station. I've read that what this means is that if you max it out with up to 4 cordless handsets, they each can't be independently dialing lines, etc. - they all share the same active line.

So it is much more a way to extend your personal desk phone to your mobile location in your house (in my case) or your business, but not to give lots of simultaneous use options to other family members or employees...

Hope that helps - again, great looking phone and such - can't wait to get it configured properly with PBX in a Flash and really start using it.
